Today Show: Child First Aid

The Today Show, yesterday, had another segment of it’s First Aid TODAY series: Life-saving Resources. This time, it was all about child first aid. In this segment, they spoke mostly about what to do when a child or an infant is choking on something.

One thing that they suggested doing, however, is trying to save the child or infant for a little while BEFORE calling 9-1-1. But what’s the general consensus? Wouldn’t it be better if the professionals were summoned immediately, in case advanced help is required, and you’ve done all you can?

You have a child or infant that is choking and you're the only available rescuer. When should you call 9-1-1?
