Now that I’m back on schedule, hopefully I won’t mess up too bad and miss any more days. One thing I did mess up on is setting really super high goals to meet. I thought that I was just moving the goals to a further amount, in calories and in number of workouts in so many days. So I set a goal of 3000 calories. Big mistake. At my current rate, I’ll make that goal but not before the date that goal should be reached. Ah well, something to think about as far as interface design in the future, EA Sports.

Today’s workout featured a run that never seemed to end. I was really tired by the end of it, and after that were lunges. Lunges are still very difficult for me, but curiously I started to notice them becoming easier to complete.
This time around there were a couple of sports in the mix. Volleyball and tennis. I did really well at the Volleyball, and I think I’ve figured out how the sports work. If your timing is right and your technique as well, you’ll hit the target. If neither one is right or either one is off a bit, then you’ll miss. With Tennis, I put that to the test, as the first round I did really well.. but then I lost my rhythm and did really bad.

It’s been a pretty busy week, since the last workout, so in order to complete the 30 day challenge on time and correctly, I had to do some heavy workouts. I missed three days of workouts, and as a result, I wasn’t going to be able to meet my goals for the challenge. So I did what any sensible person would do, and spent the afternoon doing three workouts in a row. I decided that I’d do yesterday’s workout today, which I’ll be doing sometime soon.

Today’s workout seemed to be more focused on upper body, starting out with a quick run to get you moving. It was easier today than the previous two workout days. After that was Bent Over Rows, followed by Bicep Curls with Upright Rows: a new exercise. Next was Alternating Side Lunges, which were easier this time around, but after that was Side to Side Jumps. I tell you what, with proper technique, you feel the burn here, bigtime.

I didn’t get a chance to write about yesterday’s routine until now, but I must say, it was a much tighter experience than the first time through. In keeping with the medium level of workout, my projected calorie burn was around 166 calories.
This time, the Wii Balance Board wasn’t part of the training. Instead, it was making use of the leg strap and other such things that came included with the game. There were also many new routines. Some of which pushed me to the limits. This time around, there were times where I thought that I might not have made it through, but the routines are set up in a way that gives you variety that doesn’t overwork anything.

Here’s the start of my experience with EA Sports Active. If you’re interested in following my progress with the 30 Day Challenge, I’ll be writing about it as I make progress.
Today was my first experience with the game and it was also the first time I’ve really started to get some real exercise in a very long time, so I’m counting on seeing some results, and perhaps some of you will be inspired to join me in this endeavor.
Side note: the game has sold more than 600,000 copies since it’s release a couple of weeks ago, so you won’t be alone in this.
